    Radio broadcasting in China began in 1923 (XRO Shanghai). State-owned China National Radio – CNR (中央人民广播电台), founded in 1940 in Yan'an, today is the main radio broadcasting station with ten national radio channels. Radio broadcasts for abroad are carried out by China Radio International – CRI (中国国际广播电台) and CGTN Radio in 63 languages worldwide. Regional radio stations are operated by provincial and municipal broadcasting organisations. Broadcasting is regulated on national level by the National Radio and Television Administration – NRTA (国家广播电视总局). There is no privately owned radio stations in Mainland China. Currently there are over 4000 radio stations, broadcasting through a network of over 2000 AM and 9000 FM transmitters in the People's Republic of China. DAB digital radio is available in main cities. Broadcasters do not use call signs. Primary language on radio is Chinese, minority language stations in some regions.

    Radio broadcasting in Hong Kong began in 1921. Founded in 1928 (GOW) Radio Television Hong Kong – RTHK (香港電台) is the public broadcaster of Hong Kong and currently operates seven radio channels. Other radio stations in Hong Kong are privately owned by two companies. Broadcasting is regulated by the Communications Authority – CA (廣播事務管理局). Today there are altogether 13 radio stations, broadcasting through a network of 7 AM transmitters and 63 FM transmitters plus relay stations in traffic tunnels. Broadcasters do not use call signs. Primary languages on radio are Cantonese and English.

    Radio broadcasting in Macau began in 1933 (CQN/CRY-9). Teledifusão de Macau – TDM (澳門廣播電視) is the public broadcaster of Macau with 2 radio stations. One private radio station. Broadcasting is regulated by the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau – CTT (郵電局). Today there are altogether 3 FM radio stations. Primary languages on radio are Cantonese and Portuguese.

    Radio broadcasting on the island of Taiwan began in 1925 (experimental) and 1928 (JFAK Taihoku). Broadcasting Corporation of China – BCC (中國廣播公司), established in Nanjing in 1928 as XKN / Central Broadcasting Station (中央廣播電臺), today is a privately owned company under a Government contract to serve as a national public broadcaster. Radio Taiwan International – RTI (中央廣播電臺) broadcasts on 13 languages on Shortwave. Broadcasting in the Republic of China is regulated by the National Communications Commision – NCC (國家通訊傳播委員會). There are 225 FM radio stations and 320 AM stations and one DAB Digital radio multiplex. Broadcasters do not use call signs. Primary language on radio is Chinese.

    Radio broadcasting in Japan began in 1922 (Shirakiya experimental station) and 1925 (JOAK Tokyo). Japan Broadcasting Corporation – NHK (日本放送協会) is country's national public broadcasting organisation with three domestic radio channels and international service NHK World Radio on Shortwave. Broadcasting is regulated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications – SOUMU (総務省). American Forces Network operates network of AM/FM stations in Japan. Currently there are 880 AM and 1100 FM radio stations in Japan. The FM broadcast band in Japan uses frequencies from 76.0 to 90.0 MHz, in 2014 this band was expanded to 95.0 MHz. Radio stations identify on-air with four letter call signs, begining with "JO", plus -FM suffix where applicable (eg. JOAK-FM). Primary language on radio is Japanese.

    Radio broadcasting in Korea began in 1924 (experimental) and 1927 (JODK Keijō). Korean Broadcasting System – KBS (한국방송공사) is the Republic of Korea's national public broadcaster with five domestic radio channels, a station dedicated to Koreans abroad, and international service KBS World Radio on Shortwave in 11 languages. Broadcasting is regulated by the Korea Communications Commission – KCC (방송통신위원회). American Forces Network operates network of AM/FM stations in South Korea. Currently there are 214 AM and 360 FM radio stations in South Korea. Radio stations identify on-air with four letter call signs, begining with "HL", plus -FM suffix where applicable (eg. HLKA). Digital platform DMB also operates in the country. South Korean government constantly jams most radio broadcasts from North Korea and Japan on Mediumwave. Primary language on radio is Korean.

Pyongyang radio stations

    Radio broadcasting in North Korea began in 1936 (JBBK Heijō). Today, all media in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are state owned and under control of Korean Central Broadcasting Committee (조선중앙방송위원회). Korean Central Broadcasting Station (조선중앙방송) in the main radio broadcaster with two domestic channels, the external service Voice of Korea on Shortwave in 8 languages and Pyongyang Broadcasting Station , tageted to listeners in South Korea. Currently there are 16 AM, 14 FM and 11 shortwave transmitting stations in North Korea. Broadcasters do not use call signs. It is illegal to tune into foreign broadcasts and all radios are fix-tuned to local frequencies. North Korean government is jamming Mediumwave and shortwave foreign stations. Primary language on radio is Korean.

Ulan Bator radio stations

    Radio broadcasting in Mongolia began in 1931 (Ulan Bator). Mongolian National Broadcaster – MNB (Монголын Үндэсний Олон Нийтийн Радио Телевиз) is country's national public broadcaster with three domestic radio channels and international service Voice of Mongolia . Broadcasting in the country is regulated by the Communications Regulatory Commission – CRC (Харилцаа Холбооны Зохицуулах Хороо). Currently in Mongolia there are several active Longwave and Mediumwave transmitters and 108 FM radio stations, including some 20 via repeaters for the public broadcaster. Broadcasters do not use call signs. Primary language on radio is Mongolian.
